At The Cirqus, we know every project is a tightrope-walk : A balancing act of artistic ingenuity, proficient execution and efficient delivery. Our teams are flexible enough to contort their way around different platforms and robust enough to take on any problems – creative or technical. Conjuring fascinating concepts and content out of thin air, augmenting existing ideas to perfection, and taking a project to that final act are all part of a typical day at The Cirqus.
Dileep, a veteran with over 20 years of experience in the Visual Effects Industry, co-founded The Cirqus in 2014. Today, The Cirqus is a burgeoning creative space resting on the foundation of teamwork, that creates quality visuals and pushes the boundaries of technology in the Entertainment industry.
A graduate of Fine Arts, Dileep started his career in the Visual Effects industry as a 3D generalist. He moved on to be one of the first few members of the 3D team at Rhythm and Hues Studios, India. As a Modeller and Department Lead, he worked on shows like The Golden Compass, Superman Returns, The Fast and The Furious:Tokyo Drift and many more. His ability to lead, understand and nurture artists led him to pursue management and subsequently oversee the operations for the entire Hyderabad division of the company.
As the Director, Dileep plays a pivotal role in leading new business opportunities, creating and developing original content, and honing the talent at The Cirqus. He is passionate about education and frequently collaborates with teachers and trainers from various schools and training institutions.
Varun Malhotra is the Co-Founder and Creative Director at The Cirqus. He supervises all parts of the creative process in the studio from ideation to execution. After a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, he started out as a Lighting Technical Director and has been a part of the Visual Effects industry for the past 11 years having worked across various departments such as Lighting, Matte-Painting and Compositing as an artist and team lead on highly acclaimed Visual Effects feature films, including the Academy Award winning Life of Pi.
He has been involved with films, commercials, virtual reality, print media, gaming and apps, software, and pipeline design and development. A technology enthusiast and self taught in programming, art, and design, he believes in continuous education – always learning, growing and giving it your 100%.
The Cirqus delivers VFX for the Malayalam political thriller written by Murali Gopy and directed by Jiyen Krishnakumar, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Indrajith Sukumaran.
Bot Rods is a high adrenaline racing game set in a futuristic world.
The Bot Rods world is inhabited by adorable characters from many species and their equally lovable Bots(robot vehicles).
The team at The Cirqus created a photoreal elephant and delivered over 20 CGI shots for the climax sequence of the film which was an essential tool in the screen adaptation of this modern malayalam literature.

This collection of poems is Sangita Nambiar’s first focused published work. The illustrations feaured in the book were created from countless cups of coffee and the collective imagination from within The Cirqus.
The team at The Cirqus worked on over 120 shots involving an indian black bear, a bison, butterflies, frogs, peacocks, and a lot of pyro fx and flora – all in CGI in this new age jungle adventure film shot in the deep forests all across Kerala.
The Cirqus worked on three full CGI commercials in association with Tonnit Design to bring their 2D character illustrations to life for UAE Exchange – taking the characters and re-imagining them in 3D, pushing them through storyboarding, animation and sound design.
